Great Ocean Road
A Dutch friend, Anne, and I went on an organized trip along Great Ocean Road and to the Grampians National park in the beginning of September. This is the first 1.5 days, which we spent along the Great Ocean Road.
At 07 am we were picked up in the city center and we left directly heading toward our first location. Our tour guide was very good and during the weekend he acted as driver, cook as well as tour guide. We drove around in a minivan and stopped at many places along the beautiful road. Everything was included, so the van was stuffed with different snacks, drinks, food etc.
This arch marks the beginning of Great Ocean Road (GOR).
Anne and I at Eastern View Beach.
Eastern View
At Lorne (even called Teddy's Lookout). It is absolutely beautiful here.
A stop at Kennett River to feed wild parrots and do find some wild koalas.
We had a BBQ lunch at this beautiful view at Cape Otway.
At the top of the lighthouse in Cape Otway. The wind was so strong, 60 km/h, but they said it was still mild. The strongest winds they have had this year was 125 km/h...
We went on a finding-as-many-koalas-as-possible mission at Cape Otway as well. This was one of many koalas in this area. Our tour guide, Cameron, dropped us off and we walked trying to find these amazing animals. In the beginning, it was really difficult to spot them, since they are hiding among the eucalyptus leaves.
A few stops later at Port Campell National Park. This place is called "Two Survivors". Each cliff formation has gotten an own name.
This was called "The Wreck". Everything was so beautiful and the water is so blue.
We really had 4 seasons in 1 day. It went from sunny to windy to rainy to hailing to sunny again.
After rain comes sunshine (and a double rainbow...)
"The Razorback"
After walking down the Gibson Steps we came to this beautiful beach. Since Cameron had done this tour for 9 years, he knew what time all of the tourists are at the different locations along the GoR. So when we came to this beach, no one was here. We could hear the ocean and nothing else.
The 12 Apostles at sundown.
The following morning we started the day with visiting the Bay of Islands before heading off to Grampians National Park.
